It's official! We were in Los Angeles during the 15 wettest days since the 1920s, 1800s, or since they have been tracking rain, depending on which weather station you believe. But, like all things, it ended and we moved to Temecula. We are staying in the RV Resort at the Pechanga Indian Reservation & Casino. It is a very nice park. Since we have been here, the weather has been beautiful, sunny and warm. While we have been in Temecula we have been pretty busy. We spent one day touring Temecula with my brother Mark (he and his family live in the area). We drove through town and around the local area and ended the day wine tasting in a couple of the local wineries (spent $12.00 in one winery to taste 5 champagnes). We (Rich and I, Mark and his wife Darcy, and his son Skylar) spent one evening (Darcy's birthday) having dinner and gambling in the casino. We (Rich, Mark, and I) spent one day touring the San Diego Wild Animal Park. I especially enjoyed the Lion exhibit. They have 6 young lions: 3 males and 3 females. We arrived during the training session. They train 2 at a time; 1 male and 1 female. After the three sessions, the trainers let all 6 of the animals out to play. It was fun to see them run, pretend to fight and cuddle.
One day Mark and I went to the 'Road to California' Quilt show in Ontario. It is the largest quilt show in southern California. We spent 7 hours looking at quilts, quilted clothing, and dolls and visiting the vendors. It was great. Mark is a painter so he especially liked the art quilts, while I also liked the bright traditional and non-traditional quilts. Another day Rich and I toured the San Diego Zoo. I especially enjoyed one of the bear exhibits where 2 young bears were playing pretty roughly. It was funny, every parent visiting the exhibit first said something about the bears playing and then told their children if they ever played that rough with their siblings they would be in deep trouble. I also enjoyed the Rhino exhibit where we could see into the pool area where the rhino was swimming. He was not swimming but pushing off the bottom with one foot while the other three just sort of drifted.
While Rich and I have been busy, Max has mostly been staying at home, so when we get home tired, he is ready to go. It is pretty frustrating for all of us, him wanting attention and us wanting to rest. This is one of the times when the difference between not quite 1 and 59 is very extreme.
On the home front, we got our budget and this year's actual expenditures into Quicken, so we are on the way to finding out if we can really do this. Since we are, the answer better be yes. We did have to replace one of the tires on the fifth wheel. It had lost a piece of tread. Otherwise we and the place seem to have come through the flood in pretty good shape. Talk at you next week.
