Tucson (03/13/2005)

This week we spent a lot of time looking at houses and communities. We looked at 3 Active Adult Resort Communities: 2 Robson communities (Quail Creek and Saddleback), and a Del Webb community (Solera) and 1 mixed age community (Suaharita). We actually looked at several of the houses twice. We liked 3 of the houses and one of the communities a lot. We have not made a decision yet, it is a lot of money and we originally planned to travel for 2 years. One of the house plans we liked has a financial plan where we can lock in the price now and they will not have completed the house until some time next year so that may be the option we take. These communities, like the parks here in Arizona, really excite me a lot. You can be as active or inactive in the community as you like. There are a lot of activities for the homeowners. The community I like includes quilting and ceramic (including a kiln) groups among lots of other activities.
The other thing I did this week was make a quilt top. The quilt group at this park makes quilts for charity. They are making quilts for children at one of the local hospitals and for a Habitat for humanity family. They have fabric and some blocks that people have donated for people to use to make these quilts. I selected some blocks I liked, selected fabric that I thought would look good, and made the top. Now I am using the leftover fabric to make the back and then I will give both the quilt and the back back to the quilt group. Someone else will build the quilt sandwich, and quilt it. This has been great fun. I get to do what I enjoy (the design and quilt top) and I do not end up with a UFO (UnFinished Object), and it did not cost anything but time doing something I enjoy.
Rich got a Tucson bike map and found a bicycle path he likes and has taken a couple of long rides (17 miles). He has really been enjoying the warm weather. And Max has met lots of new friends. He does not know it yet but next week I am going to be learning how to groom him. We should have lots of fun.
