200600414 - St Augustine, Florida (We visit ‘oldest city in nation‘)
Rich and I drove from Crystal River to St Augustine and set up the rig in a new park. We stayed at the park for 2-3 days. On one of those days, April 14, we drove into St Augustine to look around and ended up taking a bus tour of the city. St Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied European settlement in the continental US. We had visited St Augustine on our honeymoon 39 years ago. I can see in my mind the photos we have of our younger selves visiting the Castillo de San Marcos. Much of the rest of the town is very different, many more tourists, at least from what we remember. We drove around but the town was so busy with tourists we were not able to find a parking spot until we saw the tourist bus depot, so we decided to take a bus tour. The bus took us around the city to see some of the old beautiful buildings and to see the Castillo again. This was a tourist bus so we were able to get on and off to see the sights up close and personal.
