I love it here. I was trying to figure out why. I do not especially enjoy very hot weather but I love the look of the desert, the vista that goes on forever.

So, for the last few weeks we have been very busy with the house… lots of painting and lots of deliveries still going on. For the last year or so I have watching HGTV to get some ideas for the house. As I have doing this I have been ever so subtly brain washed. In these programs the designer completely transforms the house in what looks to be hours or at the most days (for the most part the program itself lasts only 30 minutes). Imagine my surprise that it is taking us weeks and weeks and we are not near done. Now I am noticing that in the shows they may mention that sometimes it takes people YEARS to get their homes they way they want them.

This a photo of the painting. The white is the original color of the entire house, the dark is the accent wall in the great room, and the tan is the new color for most of the rest of the house.
Seems like every time we turn around we are out buying something else for the house; brushes and tape for painting, shelf liner, etc. Someone told me that it felt like every time they left their home it cost $500.00. Rich feels like we are hemorrhaging money. We knew we needed furniture but the little things keep coming up.
Rich was gone for 5 days flying to Spokane and driving a U haul truck back with those items we decided to store while we were on the road. Thank you Mike and Ruthanne! While he was gone I got to take over his duties of walking Max. Now I have taken over the afternoon slot most of the time while Rich does the morning one. Turns out I enjoy it a lot. Here are some photos of our neighbor's homes.
And this is the view of the mountains at the end of our street.
I have started attending the 2 quilt groups in Quail Creek. One focuses on only quilting while the other has other needlework opportunities. I think I will enjoy both groups. I still need to get connected with the local guild. I have met several members but I need to attend a meeting to really join. I am working on getting my studio set up so I can actually sew something.
Last Friday I went with my Voyager Quilt Group to the Phoenix Quilt Show. One of the ladies had arranged a bus for us. We left at 7:00AM (I left at 6:15 to drive to Tucson). The bus arrived in Phoenix at the show at 9:00AM. We spent the day seeing the show and left on the bus at 3:00 for home. It was a great show. I took 250 pictures. This one was my favorite. It was one of a series of square in a square quilts (a favorite design of the Amish). The challenge was to do something different with the quilting. On this one, the edge and the outline of the feathers, which look to be multicolored fabric is actually part of the quilting. It was amazing to me.

That quilting is amazing. What a lot of stitching to get that effect.
