We took Great Aunt Edith with us to Florida. Great Aunt Edith is our name for the voice of our GPS unit. Poor Edith really doesn’t get air travel. When we set her up in the rental car to help us find our way from the Enterprise Rent a Car in Fort Lauderdale to our hotel in Kissimmee, she started us out in Tucson with a 2200 mile trip. After a few moments of shock and surprise (on our parts) she recalculated our position and found a much shorter route for us. Rich generally does not really need Aunt Edith (in fact he frequently gets quite annoyed with her as she does not always direct us the way he has planned to go - You haven‘t seen an argument until you have seen one between an angry husband and a determined GPS unit). I, on the other hand, find her to be a great help, but that‘s because I usually have no idea how to get from here to there. After she figured out where we were (in Florida) she did OK and was able to locate and direct us to the places we wanted to go. However, on her first trip back in Tucson, she was again quite confused. I had to have her recalculate the trip several times before she figured out that we were back home in Tucson.
I am pretty sure I shared with you the story of Great Aunt Edith, but in case you do not remember: My brother Steve named his GPS Hilary. I liked the idea of giving the voice a name, but I could not imagine Rich taking directions from someone named Hilary and I did not want him taking directions from Amber, Candi, or Debbie. After thinking about it I finally decided that we both could take directions from a Great Aunt Edith.

I've heard others say their GPS is too bossy. I like the ones that display a map.
For interesting directions, go to Google, click maps, then click get directions, then put NYC in the from and London in the destination. Check how long it takes and step 23.
Our GPS, Hilary, asks if we have moved more than 400 miles when she is confused and trying to acquire the satelites. I recommend that you let her warm up for several minutes before badgering her for directions. Sally also argues with Hilary. Sometimes it's nice to be "anavigational"
