On January 12 we took the Turistik Bus tour of Santiago. You know, the buses that tour the town and allow you to get on and off all day (the one in Barcelona where I got lost). It was a great day; sunny, not too hot, a little smoggy. (The mountains were a little washed out). Santiago is a very beautiful city, very clean, very modern, and in a very beautiful setting.
This was the the view from our hotel room. There was major development project building a convention center across the river from the Radisson.
One of the Turistik Buses - Red double deckers.
Some of the older buildings we saw on our tour of the city.
And some of the more modern Buildings (condos and office buildings) Many buildings, many shapes and many with trees on the terraces made for a beautiful skyline.
There were tree lined streets outside of the downtown area - some are shopping areas some are residential. One of the nicest was home to many designer shops.
Several glacier rivers flow through town. Here are 2.
Two of the many sculptures we saw around town. Some were traditional and some very modern.
2 Shopping malls we visited.
Parque Arauco - a very large, very modern mall
and a small handicrafts area.
One of the areas we decided to walk was St Lucia Hill. A small, tall hill with viewing area at the top.
Some of the stairs we had to climb to get to the top.
From the near the bottom looking up at the top.
The views from the top. As you can see the mountains were not very clear that day.
And finally, the monument at the bottom of the hill
Can you tell we liked Santiago?
