Health issues
Richard was pretty annoyed with me after he read my last Blog and especially after my sister (the nurse) called and yelled at both of us. She yelled because everybody knows that if you suspect a stroke, time is critical for a full recovery and you need to call 911 ASAP. What I did not write (because I did not remember) was that he got on-line, looked up the signs of a stroke, and questioned me about my symptoms. I apparently answered no to all the questions, so although he was still worried he no longer suspected a stoke.
Since that time I have substantially lowered my Lantus insulin (from 95 to 70 units at bedtime). And I bought some glucose tablets in case of another serious low. Most of the items I chose to eat to treat the low were slow sugar and what I needed was fast sugar. My Doc and I discussed the lows I am experiencing at great length. He lowered my Lantus (to 60) and we are watching my overall blood sugar levels to get a better handle on my insulin needs. We are dropping the Lantus and will push it back up if it gets to be too low.
Good news, my cholesterol and triglycerides are down substantially. In part because of the weight but also because I have started taking Lavaza. I am hoping to find another equally good form of fish oil (this one is very expensive).
Max
One day last week when Richard and Max were out walking they met a young coyote on the trail. The coyote wanted to play so Max and the coyote played with each other for about 10 minutes. I have mixed feeling about this. On the one hand, it presents a fun picture. On the other hand what if Max now thinks coyotes are friends and the next one he meets thinks he would make a nice snack. We do have coyotes here. One of our neighbors saw one walking on our wall. I try not to let Max outside without human presence, he thinks everything should love him.
Facebook
I found out that some members of Richard’s family use Facebook to keep in touch so I joined. It is kind of cool. My siblings and I have a family page we use to keep in touch but in general the next generation doesn’t seem to get on as often as we do, so it was a nice surprise to see them in Facebook. This gives me a chance to keep up with their lives. Starting out, however, was a bit of a time sink. Now that I have pretty much found as many family members as are out there, I think, it is settling down a bit. In the beginning, finding people, then searching their friends and family for my friends and family took some time.
Quilting
I took a class in Fabric Stamping. It was very fun. I find myself seeing fabric everywhere to paint and stamp. This is especially true for the fabric for the little purses my group is making to sell. I took one piece of fabric with me to the class and stamped it. It came out great. When I got home I was so excited I called one of the other purse makers to show it to her. I will take some more pictures later to show you.
Glass
I also took a introductory class in glass. This class is a requirement if you want to do stained glass or fused glass here in Quail Creek. I want to make some fused glass items. I just don’t know where I can find the time for this. I have been planning to do this pretty much since we got here and so far have not found time.

Sue, I'm sorry to have "yelled" at you and Richard. I'm glad that you took some of my suggestions to heart, and hope that You are helping Richard to know what else to do in case you become somewhat incapacitated in the future. I's sorry Richard, and love you both. christine
