Tucson (11/13/2005)

We were traveling toward Tucson the week before last. On our way we again spent a couple of days in Buckskin Mtn State Park (we had stayed there in mid April & I published photos then). It is a gorgeous little park on the Colorado river roughly half way between Tucson and Las Vegas. This time we took a 2 mile hike up to some mines in the hills near the park. We took Max with us and even he was hot and tired by the end (his little tail was drooping). The hike was a one mile loop with a ½ mile side trip to the mines, midway through the loop. When we were coming back and came back to the loop, Max could not believe we were going on this new (untraveled) part of the trail. You could just see him thinking ’Are you crazy, we are supposed to be going home, I am hot and tired, and this is not the way.’ After we got back to the RV Park, we took Max to the river to swim. He sure recovers a lot faster than we do.
We spent last week in Tucson at Voyager RV Park (the park with the great quilting group). We had 2 appointments at Quail Creek to make the design decisions for the house. On Tuesday afternoon we walked around the model homes again to remind ourselves of how things looked and then we made the basic decisions about the house architecture. Decisions like: Do we want doors on the entry to the den or do we want an archway? (Archway - We will keep the room neat) Do we want to add a bay window in the Master Suite? (Yes) Which stove and dishwasher did we want? On Thursday we made color and material decisions such as: Where do we want tile? And which tile? And what size? And what color? Where do want carpet? And which carpet? And what color? Etc. etc. I was surprised at how quick it all went. But if you can narrow down the range of choices for me (and Rich can), I can make decisions relatively quickly. The other days I worked on my quilting. It was nice to have space to put up my machine and have cutting boards and irons without completely taking over the RV. While I was working at the quilt room, Rich cleaned and repaired the truck and 5th wheel.
Now we are on the way to Florida. We are traveling on US 10. Today we are in Deming, New Mexico at a small park (essentially in the middle of nowhere). Tomorrow we are heading off US 10 for a few days at Carlsbad to see the Caverns. And then on our way to Florida.
