20060521 - On the Road North

Note 1: We think that one of the women killed by an alligator last week was killed snorkeling in the lake that Juniper Springs empties into. In case you forgot, Juniper Springs was the location of our canoe adventure. Scaaaaaaary.
Note 2: Our house is currently scheduled for completion mid to end January. It looks like we will be on the road for a few months longer than we planned.
Early this week I drove to a Quilt Shop down the beach from our park . After I drove to the shop, we decided to drive along the highway next to the beach. We drove to Matanzas Inlet. There were some beautiful houses along the beach, and Matanzas Inlet is a nice fresh water, salt water inlet with lots of fishermen.
Thursday, Rich decided to track down our missing tank. Turns out Keystone had received the order on Wednesday not a month ago as we were told. Someone, we could not find out who, had really dropped the ball. With that news we decided to cancel the order to get the tank replaced in Florida and find a place in New Jersey to have the work done. So, we are finally on our way north.
Friday, we left Florida and drove to Georgia. We crossed the Florida/Georgia border and went to a Georgia Visitor Center just in time for a free lunch: Diet Coke, Hot Dog, and Crawfish Etouffee. From there we drove to Skidaway Island State Park. We stayed there for 2 nights. Skidaway Island is one of the barrier island off the Georgia coast near Savannah, Georgia.
Saturday, we drove into Historic Savannah and took a bus tour. Historic Savannah is lovely. 20+ wonderful squares with gorgeous sycamores and live oaks dripping with great Spanish moss. Additionally, we saw many lovely restored old homes and some beautiful inner gardens.
Today, we drove to North Carolina. We will spend the night here and then we are heading to Washington DC to spend a couple of days seeing Washington and visiting one of our friends from Alaska who currently lives in DC.
