This week we took a 5 day cruise from Seattle to Astoria, then on to Nanaimo, then on to Victoria, and then back to Seattle. These five days included 1 at-sea (lazy) day and 3 in-port (active) days: 1 in Astoria, 1 in Nanaimo, and 1 in Victoria. All three of these cities had quilt fabric shops listed in my quilt shopping book so I got to do some fabric shopping.
Going to Astoria we had to go under the Astoria bridge. The Astoria bridge is cool; as you come up to it in a large ship, it looks like you are going to hit. Then as you keep getting closer, finally you see that there is plenty of room. Astoria is a neat town, sort of reminds me of smaller Alaska towns. The fabric shop had lots of nice flannels.
Nanaimo is also a small town. We had to tender in (no docks for the Mercury so we took the emergency boats from the ship to the town). It was a beautiful day and they had a nice long harbour trail so we walked it. The fabric shop was too far out of town so we did not go. There were several cruise ships in town that day, so things were festive. They even shot off the cannons at noon (and we just happened to be there to see it)
Victoria is almost always lovely. It was sort of a foggy day but the town still looked great, lots of flowers everywhere. The ship docked away from the inner harbour so we took a bus into town then walked around. The fabric shop was near the harbour so we went there first. They had really nice Asian fabrics and local patterns so I had fun selecting. After shopping we spent the rest of the day at the Royal BC Museum. It has been a while since we were in Victoria and the museum had changed so there was a lot to see.
After the cruise we picked up Max and the fifth-wheel and stayed a couple of days at the park in Everett. Now we have moved home to the park in Bothell. We will be here for a couple of weeks while I have my medical visits.

Wish I would have known when you were in Astoria. I would have loved to have an excuse to drive out there, only an hour away.
In answer to your comment on my blog:
I have been too lazy to do the word verification, will do it now. The health list is holistic approach to lowering blood pressure. The ice cube visualization is a technique where you visualize yourself taking ice cubes out of the freezer, washing your head, neck and face with them, and the cold water going into the blood stream in your brain and flowing out to your fingers and toes. I kind of like it. My blood pressure is 155/120 or something ridiculous like that.
