20060905 - Wyoming

On Monday we drove from Buffalo, Wyoming to Cody, Wyoming.

We could sure tell it was Labor Day and we were heading toward the vacation place while everyone else was heading away.

Max helps Rich drive.

Fall is coming, as we were traveling, there were neon lime splashes in among the dark green trees. The trees are not clear but the color is and that is what I want to remember for my autumn quilt.

This country is so strange and different and so beautiful.

On Tuesday we decided to stay an extra day in Cody as the friends we are meeting in Yellowstone will not be arriving until Friday or Saturday. We drove to the Buffalo Bill Historical Center. It is a very cool Museum, actually 5 museums in one: Cody Firearms Museum (so many guns, rifles, and shot guns), Whitney Gallery of Western Art, Plains Indian Museum, Buffalo Bill Museum, Draper Museum of Natural History. This was a very beautifully put together center.

This was one of the bronze pieces at the center. They had lots of bronze and even had a video of the lost wax process for building bronze sculpture. It was interesting. After the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, we drove out to Buffalo Bill Dam. It too was interesting.

It damned the Shoshone River, in a very narrow canyon

And created a lovely lake.

On Wednesday we plan to drive to Yellowstone Park and set up the RV.
