20061008 - Seattle

This week we drove from Spokane, WA to Seattle, WA. I had 7 medical appointments and several lunches and dinners with family and friends as this will be our last regular trip to the Seattle area. My medical appointments have gone well. My cancer appears to continue to be in remission. Neither the Oncologist nor the Radiation Specialist were able to find any recurrence (hurrah!). My A1C was 7.2 which is very good for my diabetes. My Blood Pressure was excellent. My Cholesterol was too high for today’s recommendations, so I need to work on that; and there are some questions about my kidney function and my Carotid Arteries (somewhat occluded) so I will need to check on those when we get settled in Tucson. I am not looking forward to finding doctors in Tuscon. Taken individually my issues are not that complicated but taken as a group I think they are. I need to find a primary care doc who will look at the whole of me and organize the specialists and I am not sure how I find her.

We had dinner with each of the three younger Skov families and had a great time with each of them. Both of the babies got along great with Max, and Max got along great with the 2 dogs as well. And of course we enjoyed visiting with the adults.

These are my best pictures of the youngest Skov generation. Great pictures, yes?

I had dinner with my quilt group and drinks with my colleagues from old office. I can’t believe that we are finally moving away from Seattle and all these friends and family. It wasn’t like we were saying a real goodbye when I was returning for medical treatments every 4 months but now we are truly moving out of state. We will still return occasionally but it won’t be the same. We spent Saturday with senior, midlevel and junior members of the Skov family. It is really hard to leave them behind in Seattle and Spokane.

This coming week we will be driving into Portland to see my sisters, Sandy (and her husband Dale) and Chris (and her husband Steve). We will stay with them for a few days before we return to Salt Lake City and the Fifth Wheel.
