Saturday - we drove to Zion National Park and settled into a RV park in Virgin.

This is the view from the Campground in Virgin.
Sunday - we toured Zion National Park. First we drove from Virgin up to and through the Mount Carmel Highway tunnel. The road to the tunnel is narrow and windy, with many hairpin turns. The tunnel is 1.1 miles long and so narrow that when a larger vehicle comes through, it is closed to oncoming traffic. It was a beautiful drive.

The view from the road, to the road above, as well as one of the tunnel windows above.

The view from inside the tunnel through one of the windows to the outside.

This area has the most beautiful flowing rocks.

This area has lots and lots of beautiful flowing rocks.

I love the colors of this park: the reds and whites of the rocks, and the greens, grey greens, gold’s, and reds of the foliage.

I also love the shapes of this park

This is one of my favorite views.

Some of the Cliff tops look like Gargoyles.
This is the time of year when you must take a shuttle bus to see the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive, so after driving back from the tunnel we took the bus to see the scenic drive. We got off the bus several times to take hikes. One hike was to the Emerald Pools and another was up the Virgin river. It was an awesome day.

The view of some of the shuttle buses (double buses with many roof windows) from the beginning of the Emerald Trail.

Another view of the Emerald Trail Hike. This area was quite wet and muddy.

As we walked along the Virgin River one of the interesting things was that on one side of the river we saw Cacti

And on the other side we saw wet jungle.

At the end of the hike you could look up the river at the narrow canyon. Rich told me you could walk down the river from the other end of the Canyon. Maybe on some other trip.

This park has so many beautiful views, even from the bus through the roof window.
