On January 2nd we docked in our second Brazilian city Recife.
As we were coming into port the ship practiced launching, running and retrieving one of the smaller life boats.
Recife is a city of rivers and bridges, sometimes called the ‘Venice of Brazil’. It is the capitol of Pernambuco State and the fifth largest city in Brazil.
This was a prison that had been turned into a tourist shopping mall, It was shaped like a cross with cells on both sides of the corridor and 3 flights of stairs. Each cell was a tiny little shop. Please forgive my fuzzy shots, the camera automatically adjusts to diminished light, I do not.
This last shot is an empty cell. They were very tiny
I just love these dolls
They have some great beaches, but you need to stay inside the reef. Recife means reef.
There was also one of those exercise walks (parcourse?)next to beach.
There were interesting sculptures and buildings here and there in the city.
