I’ve been thinking - Home, Health, Quilting, and Friends

Home
In the last month we have visible progress in many rooms including:

the study (where we now have 2 desks - this is Rich's, mine is too messy to show you),

the studio (where I have my fabric pretty much set up in the closet

and the book shelves which are also pretty much good to go, but I still need tool storage setups),

the great room (which is pretty much furnished although it still lacks decorations) (no new photo), the casita (which has a fridge but no lights)(no new photo), and the master bedroom which still needs bedside tables and a closet setup. (also no new photo)

This my first good display of some pins from my collection. (This is from the kitchen.) I am hoping to use several of these throughout the house.

Health
I have now had my first appointments with all my regular docs and most of my special start up appointments. My diabetes seems to be in control, my A1C was the best it has been in years, although I am showing some problems with my eyes. My Oncologist did not find anything to worry about so no news is good news. I had a special appointment with a dermatologist to do a skin scan since I was a California girl for many years and am now back in the sun. He gave me a clean bill of health as well, not even much damage from the sun to date. I am looking to help start a Diabetic Support Group here, which will help with my diabetes.

Quilting
I belong to the Quail Creek Quilters. We have several programs going on even though it is summer and many members are gone. Each program is monthly. Batty for Batiks involves bringing 12 10 inch blocks of batik fabric once a month to be split up among all the participants. So once a month I bring in 12 squares each of 2 colors of batik and go home with 24 unique squares: so far we have done Green, Purple, and Anything goes. It's a great way to add small pieces of batiks to your stash. For the Block of the Month group we each make a specific block with particular color fabrics. If you bring in a block you are entered in the drawing where the winner takes home all the blocks. So far we have made:

Black & White Friendship Stars,

Green & Pink Courthouse Steps,

And Blue & Yellow Road to Oklahomas (I do not have a photo of this group yet). I have been working on baby quilts as well but have nothing yet to show. It is still difficult to work in the studio. It's just not as big as my Studio in Seattle and if anything I have more not less stuff.

Friends

If you are a regular reader of this Blog and we have not been in touch for the last 6 months or so, please get in touch: send a comment, an EMAIL, a letter or just call. Please let me know how you are doing.

i am a new owner of the HQ sixteen and am looking for someone local that might give lessons, the quilt shops are no help at all, if you can any special tips to share on quilting blocks such as feathers, i would appreciate your knowledge. I use the spray on stencil as well as the chalk and both of these work fairly well
