This week was the Southern Arizona Shop Hop- “The Great Fabric Round-Up!”. This year there were 10 shops involved in the Hop and we hit them all. On Thursday we (9 women from the Quail Creek Quilt Covey) went to 1 shop in Casa Grande, 1 shop in Catalina, and 4 shops in Tucson. We were on the road from 8:00am until 6:30pm. On Saturday I went by myself to the 2 shops in Green Valley. And on Sunday 8 of us drove to the 2 shops in Sierra Vista. This time we were gone from 10:30am to 5:30pm. Those were a couple of days with long drives but we had a great time. Every Quilt Shop has it’s own vibe as well as the owner’s stamp on the fabrics they sell in their shop and the quilts they display. I walk into some shops and see a million fabrics that I love and other’s I see very little that interests me. This was an awesome opportunity to visit shops with other quilters. Each shop had a quilt pattern and other gifts for the shop hoppers. I actually ran into quilters from Voyager (the Tucson RV Park where Rich and I stayed while we waited for our house to be built). But the best thing of all was the opportunity to bond with my neighbor quilters.
Additionally, tomorrow Cathy Miller (The Singing Quilter) and John Bungee are performing for the Green Valley Quilters Guild and tonight they are staying in our Casita (very cool). We had dinner with them. They are near the end of a concert tour and the guild was lucky to have them perform for us. They currently live (when not on the road performing) in Victoria, BC so we had an opportunity to share our experiences about the Pacific Northwest as well as life on the road.

Hi, glad to see you're having fun with quilters and fabric. And Cathy Miller - she performed at a quilt guild meeting here a couple of years ago and I got one of her CDs. I really like it.
